SCOPE OF POSITION: The Ohio State University Medical Center processes payments from third party payers, government sources, collection agencies and private patients. This position will be responsible for the timely and accurate application of payment postings to the hospitals Patient Accounting system, as well as balancing payment postings to deposits.
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is the primarily liaison with the State of Ohio Attorney Generals Office and vendors handling self pay collection.
Primarily responsible for the management of 14 staff, including a Supervisor, as well as student employees.
This role has primary responsibility for assuring timely and accurate application of insurance and patient payments to hospital accounts, managing online and mailed credit card payments, timely processing of insurance and patient refunds. This position will be responsible for monitoring department expenses and managing annual budget. This position will also oversee approximately $250M per month in payment postings
to patient accounts. This position will also be responsible for managing and reconciling OSUP patient payment postings.
This position will be a primary contact for Health System Finance and Campus Financial Services office on issues related to Patient Account to GL balancing, and unapplied cash situations. This position will also be the primary contact for the hospitals lockbox and credit card processing operations.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire: At least five years of health care experience; bachelors degree in health care or related field, or demonstrates equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of federal and state regulations for Medicare/Medicaid as well as managed care payer regulations. Experience MS office systems and database knowledge /queries required.
Experience with other Hospital Billing systems preferred.
