Annual salary range is $103,505 - $107,861 plus benefits. (The salary listed reflects the base pay rate. Verified prior state service, subject to applicable eligibility requirements, may increase total compensation.) The Missouri Public Service Commission, is seeking a highly responsible attorney for the position of Assistant General Counsel-Litigation, with emphasis in general litigation. This position will report directly to the General Counsel and will handle legal matters including defending Commission orders before state appellate courts. The Assistant General Counsel-Litigation must also participate in the day-to-day responsibilities of the General Counsel’s Office, including support to the technical Staff, responses to public inquiries, rulemaking and legislative activities and supervision of a broad range of legal and regulatory activities under the direction of the General Counsel.

The candidate must have a Juris doctorate degree and admission to practice law in Missouri and be a member in good standing of the Missouri Bar and;
Must have a combined 5 years of litigation experience in either the civil, administrative or energy law and/or government regulation of private enterprise law areas.
Ability to manage or coordinate all stages of complex case litigation and trial practice before all levels of the courts as well as state or federal agencies.
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and external contacts; strong oral and written communication skills; and proven ability to effectively develop trust, respect and cooperation across all areas of an organization and staff levels.
Knowledge of civil practice and procedure is required.
