The Corporate Counsel is responsible for research, legal document preparation and negotiation, securing required documentation from tenants and communicating action items to other departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review, negotiation, and preparation of commercial leases, renewals, SNDA’s, assignments, estoppel certificates and other legal instruments.
Supervising the company’s landlord-tenant litigations in absence of Legal Director.
Review and interpret loan documentation.
Secure required tenant documentation such as evidence of insurance.
Document activity and results in Yardi database.
Maintain and encourage open lines of communication with other departments including Accounting, Lease Administration, Leasing, Asset Management, and Property Management.
Special projects as needed, including for the Executive Team.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of relevant legal terminology (ability to read and understand legal documents).
Knowledge of real estate terminology preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Law degree.
Licensed to practice law in NC preferred.
Commercial real estate experience preferred.
At least 3 years’ experience as attorney preferred.
Strong computer skills. Experience in Yardi and SharePoint a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (advanced MS Word & Outlook skills).
