Overview
Perform a wide range of administrative and general office duties for the Office of General Counsel litigation attorneys including those of a confidential nature. Prepare case files and coordinate with the litigation team on court filings, production of documents for subpoenas and record requests. Prepare materials for court appearances, arbitrations, depositions and transcription services. Prepare documents, communications, and presentations for hearings and trials. Assist with research and special projects, investigations and litigations. Prioritize office activities and delegate work to student employees. May act as work leader to junior clerical support staff. Respond to inquiries regarding legal requests such as subpoenas, records, verifications, incident reports and insurance related matters displaying a comprehensive knowledge of the department's activities, policies and programs. Customize and/or compose letters on own initiative or in response to requests for information. Perform general administrative duties utilizing intermediate to advanced-level functions. Modify and/or create databases and complex spreadsheets.
Responsibilities
Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education: Associate's Degree
Required Experience: 5+ years related experience in a legal environment. Experience managing multiple complex matters and coordinating projects.
Preferred Experience: 5+ years year's experience in a law office, government agency, non-profit organization, university or corporate environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Understanding of basic legal terms and litigation processes. Familiarity with document management systems and best practices. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Fast, accurate keyboarding skills (50+ wpm). Strong writing and research skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to effectively communicate sensitive information verbally and in writing to a diverse population.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $46.500. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
