The UCLA Voting Rights Project (VRP) is an independent research center housed in the Luskin School of Public Affairs, and affiliated with the Division of Social Sciences and the School of Law. The VRP functions as multi-faceted organization that focuses on clinical education, electoral research, policy analysis, and civil rights litigation. Position Summary
The VRP Program Manager is supervised by the Senior Staff Attorney and the Director of Litigation of the UCLA Voting Rights Project. They are expected to work in conjunction with the Senior Staff Attorney, Director of Litigation and the entire VRP team when carrying out their duties. The VRP Program Manager will operate with some degree of autonomy, including independently determining how to carry out assignments and manage student workers. The VRP Program Manager is proactive in identifying and bringing to the director's attention potential problems and opportunities, including offering creative recommendations for action. The VRP Program Manager is responsible for coordinating the overall VRP team agenda, working closely with all other VRP administrative staff. As necessary, the VRP Program Manager will coordinate with Luskin LPPI administrative staff, as well as Luskin School administrative staff to ensure VRP mission moves forward efficiently. Coordination of the VRP agenda may include both student training, research and data science project, litigation and legal projects, conferences and symposia, and more. The VRP Program Manager in consultation with both the Senior Staff Attorney and Director of Litigation will oversee the hiring, on-boarding, and training of UCLA student fellows related to both the legal and data science teams. Responsibilities include helping the overall team coordinate student training and teaching, research and data projects, litigation, trial and appeals in federal and state court, management of students, and other administrative tasks. The VRP Program Manager will be tasked with coordinating the legal and social science sides of the project and manage all projects for the Voting Rights Project, and through consultation with Senior Staff Attorney, may supervise VRP students handling projects related to the VRP as necessary. Applicants shall have received a Bachelor's degree and more than four years work experience at a University or similar research organization. Applicants shall have specific experience in participating in voting rights litigation at the state and federal level, and have experience dealing with research and data related to voting rights expert witnesses. Applicants shall also have experience managing multiple projects and teams of persons with different levels of education and expertise. A substantial part of the Applicant's practice shall include coordinating and overseeing the development, research, and legal investigations concerning voting and civil rights.
Salary & Compensation

4 years 4 years experience at University or equivalent research organization (Required)
Experience with state and federal voting rights litigation (Required)
Experience working with data scientists who author expert reports in voting rights litigation (Required)
Experience with general HR procedures and forms in hiring (Required)
Experience with coordinating conferences and events (Required)
Experience coordinating, scheduling and managing meetings with student fellows as part of clinical education (Required)
Experience in general project management and supervision including working with attorneys, legal organizations, and/or pro bono attorneys. (Required)
Experience in coordinating projects with elected officials, government offices, and nonprofit organizations. (Required)
Experience taking meetings with elected officials or staff in state or national politics (e.g. Sacramento, Washington D.C.) (Required)
Experiencing managing undergraduate, MPP graduate, PhD graduate, and law students (Required)
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and in team settings. Must be able to form strong relationships and partnerships across organizations (Required)
Skill in determining priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities and deadlines and adapting effectively to rapidly shifting priorities and high-pressure situation (Required)
