The County of Orange, California is seeking an experienced Assistant Chief Investigator to uphold the highest standards of justice in the District Attorney’s (DA) Office – Bureau of Investigation. This position is pivotal in shaping and implementing the investigative policies and procedures for the DA’s Office. The ideal candidate has an extensive background working in either police or DA offices, and has significant supervisory and state and/or national law enforcement leadership experience. They will oversee a direct staff of four, up to 275 indirect reports, and an approximate budget of $60 million. This role will serve as a key liaison with law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels, while also ensuring that staff conduct successful investigations. They will act as a connector and motivator, emphasizing law enforcement as a lifestyle.

Two (2) years of experience as a Supervising Attorney's Investigator in the employ of the District Attorney's Office, County of Orange. OR
Four (4) years of experience in criminal investigation including two years in a responsible supervisory capacity in a District Attorney's office or other law enforcement agency. Education or training at the college level directly related to the required knowledge and abilities may be substituted for up to one year of non-supervisory experience at a rate of two semester units for each month of experience or one hour of training for each hour of experience.
CERTIFICATIONS: Applicant must meet all requirements for peace officer status that are mandated by the California Government Code and Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) regulations for the class of Investigator.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Candidates who receive a contingent job offer must pass a P.O.S.T. background investigation, meet medical standards, pass a psychological assessment, and submit to fingerprint collection.
HIGHLY DESIRED
Education: Master's degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Public Administration, Business Administration, Computer Forensics, or related field. Graduate of California P.O.S.T. Command College or PERF’s Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP) or similar graduate level leadership courses.
