The Boston University School of Law's Office of Clinical and Experiential Programs seeks a Program Manager with a strong background in project management for its Externship Program. The Externship Program provides over 130 second and third-year law students annually with the opportunity to gain academic credit while working under the supervision of practicing attorneys or judges. Boston's vibrant legal community offers a vast array of placements in diverse practice areas, including affordable housing, biotech, criminal law, education, environmental law, health law, intellectual property, and microfinance. The Externship Program has grown substantially over recent years, and the Program Manager will play a significant role in overseeing program development and expanding field sites and academic opportunities for law students. They will also play a key role in student advising about experiential offerings to ensure that potential externship students receive tailored advice about potential placements and experiential opportunities.
Responsibilities:
Work with the Director of Externships, faculty, and field site placement supervisors to oversee and manage externship placements, exhibiting a comprehensive understanding of advanced project management techniques and administrative principles.
Provide administrative leadership and guidance to field site placements, exhibiting advanced knowledge in setting project goals, allocating tasks, and monitoring progress.
Ensure compliance with American Bar Association Standards, Law School Externship requirements, and other relevant standards for all assigned externships.
Effectively manage projects to ensure timely delivery of outcomes.
Consult with faculty and educational partners to develop and implement programming optimally aimed at field site placements, part-time faculty, and students, employing effective educational design and assessment of outcomes.
Contribute to the growth and development of the Externship Program through special assignments as mutually agreed upon by the Director and related faculty.
Support outcome measurement and data collection to ensure that the Externship Program continues to operate using evidence-based design.
Contribute to growth and development of the Externship Program through special assignments as mutually agreed upon by the Director, faculty, and staff.
Collaborate with multiple departments across the law school including the Registrars Office, Finance Department, and Student Services.
Provide one-on-one advising with students interested in experiential programs, with a focus on providing tailored guidance to potential externship students.
Required Skills

B.A./B.S., or equivalent.
J.D. Preferred
Three to five years of relevant experience managing projects or programs.
Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks and tight deadlines simultaneously, attention to detail, excellent organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills and a high level of comfort and experience using technology.
Must be a dedicated, independent, and innovative team player.
