The Center:
The Sex Offense Litigation and Policy Resource Center was founded in 2017 and is supported by the Vital Projects Fund. Located at Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul and directed by President and Dean Emeritus, Eric S. Janus. The Center seeks to support lawyers, social scientists, advocates, and academics engaged in impact litigation and policy reform work on post-conviction "regulatory" laws affecting individuals who have been convicted of sex-related offenses in the past and who have served their duly imposed criminal sentences. These laws include registration and notification laws, residency and internet restrictions, and so-called civil commitment laws. The Center collects and disseminates information about litigation, social science, and policy reform work as well as facilitates communication, sharing, and the development of legal strategies, advocates and academics who seek public policy on sexual violence prevention that is more effective and respectful of constitutional and human rights. Position Purpose:
This position works directly with the director of the center. The ideal candidate brings superior research, writing, and organizational skills, along with a demonstrated interest in impact litigation particularly involving sex offense policy. The position will manage ongoing projects and initiatives, and develop new ones, supporting this litigation and related policy changes. This position is non-tenure track.

Responsibilities:
Create sophisticated resource materials to support and expand impact litigation and law reform work regarding sex offense laws
Draft amicus briefs supporting impact litigations across the country
Research and investigate ongoing constitutional issues related to sex offense regulatory schemes
Engage in policy work and advocacy, including meeting with community groups, legislators, and other stakeholders
Develop, organize and implement conferences, webinars, and convenings on sex offense litigation and policy
Develop network connections with lawyers, academics and social scientists who are engaged in this work
Develop new projects and initiatives in service to the mission of the Center
Maintain the website and newsletter
Seek out appropriate opportunities to co-counsel in impact litigation on a national basis
Although not duties or expectations for the role, prior Fellows have had the opportunity to present at regional and national conferences, work with student research assistants, collaborate with Mitchell Hamline's clinical faculty on direct client representations, work on publications on relevant subjects, and serve as adjunct faculty within Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
Qualifications:
JD or equivalent
1-3 years of litigation, clerking, or policy experience
Demonstrated interest in public interest law
Preferred Qualifications:
Admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction
Superior academic record, strong initiative, organizational skills
Organizing and advocacy skills and experience
Experience with computer applications relevant to research, such as Zotero, the ability to assist with website maintenance, and some familiarity with Mail Chip
