JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Associates degree in related field preferred, or experience equivalent to a Two-year degree with emphasis in a related field.
EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of five years of experience working in the high voltage electric or fiber optic construction field OR five years of experience as a safety professional (safety experience in electric distribution/transmission or fiber optic field preferred).
JOB KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Must possess good people skills and the ability to articulate information through both written and verbal communications to employees of different skill levels. Must be able to communicate effectively, orally and written. Must be or be able to become skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Teams. Must have knowledge in the construction, maintenance, operations, and hazards of overhead and underground powerline or fiber optic construction and maintenance, and the tools and equipment involved in such work.
MAJOR JOB TASKS:
Safety
Assists Manager of Safety, Training and Compliance with monitoring the annual safety and health plan for Electric and Go
Prepares and delivers safety training and meetings.
Cooperates with Ozarks' personnel to identify safety issues and develop hazard mitigation techniques.
Trains on proper use of PPE and hazard identification and mitigation techniques
Develop, implement, and manage safety programs and policies in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective actions.
Training
Manages apprentice program development, improvement, evaluation, and recruitment
Assists with selection of textbooks, instructional materials, equipment, and supplies
Prepares lesson plans, and course overviews
Plans, establishes, and maintains scheduling in conjunction with operations and engineering partners to maximize efficiency and quality
Plans projects for hands on experience
Delivers effective instruction that uses a variety of instructional techniques to assist students in developing high voltage line technician skills
Evaluates student progress and provides appropriate feedback
Maintains updated course documents that reflect expected student learning outcomes
Maintain complete, accurate, and accessible files and records, daily attendance, and other paperwork and reports
Submits attendance records, reports, and grades for Apprentice succession
Maintain equipment and training facilities, and ensure proper storage and security of supplies
Trains and facilitates successful licensing for Ozarks' Commercial Driver's License applicants.
Compliance
Assists Manager of Safety, Training and Compliance through research and interpretation of standards on the following government and industry agencies:
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)-Works to ensure that Electric and Go are trained on and following all applicable OSHA standards.
Department of Labor (DOL)-Creates and documents Ozarks' DOL apprenticeship program.
Other federal, state, and local government entities as they arise.
EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Safety representatives and leadership from other cooperatives and fiber companies
Must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Class A CDL without restriction, and without violation that prohibits insurability.
Must be, or be able to become, certified as CPR/First Aid/AED trainer.
Must hold or obtain NRECA Certified Loss Control Certification within three years.
