Function/Duties of PositionThe Staff Physician is the primary medical/clinical leader of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team, and provides psychiatric and medical care to patients under his/her care. The Unit Physician is responsible for the admission and discharge of patients to the Unit, psychiatric and physical examinations, formulations of diagnosis and treatment plans, and performing clinical treatments directly as well as monitoring clinical treatments done by others.Specific duties include performing psychiatric, physical and neurological examinations, writing orders for patient care, conducting meetings of the ward Treatment Team to prepare individual patient Treatment Plans and giving clinical leadership to services that implement them.
