Position Summary: The Health Information Site Coordinator oversees the daily coordination of all HIM functions at an assigned hospital location, in accordance with the department's approved policies and procedures. The Coordinator provides coaching, technical support, orientation and training to staff, as required. The Coordinator assists with the implementation of evolving systems, policies and procedures, serves as the subject knowledge expert and guides/mentors staff to meet all quality and productivity goals for the department. The Coordinator serves as a resource for Release of Information and regularly communicates with external physicians, attorneys, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), Joint Commission, contracted vendors, Recovery Audit Contractors (RAC), health insurance plans, Disability, and Workers Compensation in the performance of duties.
Minimum Requirements: One (1) year of experience in medical records with demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA/HITECH and 42 CFR Drug and Alcohol laws required Previous experience and demonstrated skills in a lead role in medical records preferred Experience with the HIM EPIC software packages
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Bachelor of Science in healthcare related field preferred
