Pratt Institute is seeking a Director of People and Culture who is a visionary leader with at least three years of experience in higher education working with faculty appointments who will provide leadership in the areas of HR operations, onboarding, recruitment, and compliance. The Director of People and Culture will manage a staff of three Generalists and a Talent Acquisition Manager, and will serve as the backup to the AVP of HR.

On a typical day, you will:
Oversee the day-to-day management of the HR Generalist team and TAM ensuring they are meeting their goals and objectives
Work with academic departments and our immigration attorneys to obtain and maintain the required visa for employment by the Institute
Ensure that the Institute's strategic plans and DEI goals are met by partnering with the Talent Acquisition Manager and the Generalist
Develop and maintain a robust onboarding program that creates a welcoming culture and environment for new hires which includes collaborating with departments to ensure new faculty and staff are successful in their roles during the first critical weeks at the institution
Take guidance from the AVP of HR and make appropriate decisions, develop policies, guidelines and procedures to successfully manage the process

This is currently a hybrid position, partially remote and partially in-person, and is based at our Brooklyn location.
Qualifications: Education: Associates Degree with three to five years of job-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Degree in Human Resources, or any technology-oriented degree or certificate, preferred.
Experience: Experience with one or more HRIS/HCM applications. Experience in Higher Education with HRIS or other data entry with an HCM system is preferred. Prior experience with HR data and processes, including on-boarding, timekeeping, payroll, benefits, and leave administration is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
Proficiency with software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
Ability to use advanced Excel functions, including VLOOKUPs.
Prior Ellucian systems experience is highly preferred.
Prior Time/Attendance system experience (Kronos/ UKG Ready) preferred.
Knowledge of applicable Federal and State employment laws.
