Home of the beautiful 22,000-acre Lake Conroe, the massive Sam Houston National Forest, and the tranquil W. Goodrich Jones State Forest (with endangered Red Cockaded Woodpeckers), the City of Conroe, Texas, is known for its picturesque outdoors. Conroe is a family-friendly and pro-business community with tons of recreational activities, a vibrant downtown community, a highly-ranked school system, and a ranking as the number one place to live in the United States. It’s also a diverse City — and very pretty! — designated as a Music Friendly Community in Texas. It’s an excellent place for adventure and relaxation, where you can raise a family, make friends, and commute to nearby Houston, Texas, in less than 30 minutes.
The City of Conroe is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced legal mind with exceptional judgment and work ethic to serve as its next City Attorney. This thoughtful and dynamic leader will work alongside City leadership to take Conroe to the next level, bringing best practices to the table, offering fresh ideas, listening to the needs of those around them, and advocating on behalf of the community. They will be politically savvy — though apolitical — and ensure a productive, effective, and efficient work environment that fosters innovation and mutual respect.
City leaders demand honesty, transparency, and hard work from their department heads, and this position is no exception. The ideal candidate is outgoing, confident, practical, and diplomatic, someone with an open mind and open door interested in building positive relationships with colleagues throughout the organization and engaging with stakeholders throughout the community.
This position requires a Doctorate of Jurisprudence and seven years of experience in municipal or other governmental law practice. Ten years or more of experience is particularly desirable.
Candidates must also be licensed to practice law in Texas and possess a valid Texas driver’s license.
