1. Performs legal, statistical, documentary, factual, and records research. 2. Identifies relevant judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, codes and other pertinent material; reviews and monitors new and updated regulations. 3. Organizes, analyzes, cross-checks and validates information. 4. Drafts legal documents including contracts and legal agreements using templates. 5. Checks legal forms and documents for accuracy. 6. Maintains law library. 7. Co-ordinates law office activities such as subpoena response, diligence production/review. 8. Locates and communicates with witnesses. 9. Interacts with clients, counterparties and other University departments. Summarizes agreements, documents, depositions, interrogatories, and testimony. 10. Attends real estate closings, depositions, court or administrative hearings and trials with the attorney. 11. Authors and signs correspondence that do not contain independent legal opinions or legal advice. 12. Maintains reference/client files, organizes and tracks case and governmental files. 13. May perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Education: Five years' experience as a paralegal. Experience in a well-recognized law firm or in-house legal department performing services for hospitals, health systems or academic medical centers; combination of law firm and in-house experience preferred.
