Position Summary:
The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI's brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. DFA serves the university as planning partners, problem solvers, and solution providers-striving to make it as easy as possible for people to get the services they need, when they need them. The University of California, Irvine Police Department, provides contemporary law enforcement services including patrol, traffic, investigations, community engagement, crime prevention and suppression, and security services to a daily population of more than 50,000 people. The department employs about 50 sworn officers, 56 professional staff, and 40 students who provide public safety services at both the Irvine campus and the Medical Center, located in the City of Orange, California. Working in partnership with the UCI community, we strive to provide services based on integrity, respect, transparency, fairness, and teamwork.
Incumbent uses professional concepts to administer the property and evidence program activities by performing a variety of technical and specialized duties involved in timely receiving, processing, storing, safeguarding, delivering, releasing, and disposing of police property, evidence, lost and found, and supplies. Acts as liaison between the UCI Police Department and the District Attorney's Office and court functions. Maintain an inventory of evidence and property submitted to the department. Ensure the safe and careful handling of evidence and protect the integrity of evidence through the judicial process. Assist Administrative Unit operations as needed.

1- 3 years' experience in Property and Evidence and / or law enforcement related experience.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Ability to resolve conflict and effectively work with members of the public who may become agitated. Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes and frequent interruptions. Working knowledge of Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and database applications. Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively develop and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships with a diverse group of individuals. Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality. Ability to speak on a one-to-one or small group basis to provide Property, Evidence, and Court policies and procedures training and presentations Understand the criminal and civil judicial systems. Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns. Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, the department, the community verbally and in writing, including demonstrated ability to produce memos, reports, letters, and email messages in a clear, concise, logical, and grammatically correct manner. Knowledge of property and evidence laws, rules, regulations, protocols, policies, and procedures. Ability to receive, process, store, document, release, and dispose of various evidence and property to effectively account for police property and evidence; organize and maintain control systems.

Knowledge of University policies and procedures.

Willingness to handle sensitive property/evidence including weapons, narcotics, money, hazardous materials, and body parts and fluids, assault kits Ability to adjust schedule to meet legal compliance for requests from Courts Must be willing to attend training both locally and out-of-state Must have a valid CA driver's license and participate in DMV pull notice program Must pass Police background screening process including Must comply with UC Vaccine Policy
