Duties:
Responsibilities will include:
The Director of Student Conduct articulates and interprets community standards based upon the University's mission and values. This role partners with the University community to develop innovative strategies to manage and adjudicate student conduct for students that is fair, impartial, non-adversarial, restorative and educational in manner. The goal is to create and maintain a campus environment conducive to students' academic success, personal growth, safety and well-being.
Focused on student community success, the Director serves as a resource in addressing student behavior, proposes and implements annual edits to the Student Handbook, develops and interprets data to monitor trends, provides relevant education and training to the community and ensures compliance with relevant SUNY policies, and state and federal laws and mandates. The Director is responsible for communications with students and families participating in the student conduct process and serves as a liaison with local law enforcement and attorneys. Serves as a hearing officer or procedural officer for conduct cases, including those under Title IX. The Director is an important team builder on campus maintaining critical relationships with campus partners including faculty, Student Engagement/Fraternity and Sorority Life, University Police, Residential Life, the Educational Opportunity Program, Disability Resource Center, Athletics and Title IX.
The Director provides leadership, oversight and direction for the University's Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, including supervision of professional staff. This position works in collaboration with students (including members of the conduct board and student advocates) to uphold the standards of the University through student education and accountability. Serves as co-chair of the Title IX Working Group, on the Academic Standing Committee and other committees as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Master's degree
- 5-7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in student affairs or related field
- A minimum of three years working in student conduct administration at the college level, including experience in analyzing and presenting data
- Cultural competence with ability to lead in a dynamic community with a diverse student body
- Well-versed in current laws and guidance pertaining to FERPA, Title IX, VAWA and other applicable regulatory provisions
- Strong organizational, management, supervisory and leadership skills
- Ability to build and maintain relationships
- Critical thinking skills including policy analysis and interpretation
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain accurate and organized records and files
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Computer literacy and database experience
- Experience developing and implementing training sessions
- Ability to maintain and complete tasks in a timely manner
Preferred:
- Experience with Maxient software and data analytics
