The Assistant Director for LLM and Non-JD Professional Development (Assistant Director) helps manage and deliver career support services to several key BU Law student and alumni populations. Approximately one-half of the Assistant Directors time focuses on professional development for LLM in Taxation students and JD students with tax law career interests; the other half primarily supports the LLM students and alumni of the LLM in American Law, LLM in Banking and Financial Law and LLM in Intellectual Property Law programs, almost all of whom are foreign-trained lawyers or law school graduates. The position also supports the schools non-JD certificate students (excluding the Legal English Certificate Program students) and Master of the Study of Tax Law students. As an integral member of the Graduate and International Programs Office team, the Assistant Director directly supports the Associate Director for LLM and Non-JD Professional Development.

Under the direction of the Associate Director, the Assistant Directors main responsibilities include:

• Counseling individual students and alumni on effective job search strategies and self-marketing skills
• Reviewing and advising on resumes, cover letters and other job application materials
• Developing and presenting career-related programming and workshops, creating content for and updating the graduate programs professional development web pages and weekly newsletters
• Organizing special on- and off-campus speaker events, alumni panels, information sessions and networking opportunities
• Coordinating and attending job fairs, recruiting events, and discovery series
• Researching internships, pro bono and paid job opportunities; and tracking and reporting on alumni employment.
