The School seeks to hire a tenure track professor who will specialize in criminal law and procedure and will serve as the School's primary contact with North Carolina's nearly 700 state court prosecutors. This position will be responsible for partnering with the North Carolina Conference of District Attorneys (the Conference) to plan the annual orientation for new prosecutors. The position also will serve on the Conference's education committee and will regularly teach legal topics of interest at Conference programs, including the semiannual conferences for prosecutors. Additional duties will include advising and teaching for other public officials involved in the North Carolina criminal justice system, including judges and magistrates.
The position will bear primary responsibility for maintaining the North Carolina Prosecutors Resource Online, a robust criminal law and procedure research tool and data repository maintained by the School. The position also will be expected to contribute to the North Carolina Criminal Law Blog, a resource for practitioners as well as an outlet for scholarly research, and to produce related scholarly work in the area of criminal law and procedure as needed.
Work is centered in Chapel Hill but requires occasional travel and consultation around the state. Faculty appointments are year-round (rather than the nine-month academic year).

Experience working as a prosecutor or with the North Carolina court system in other roles is preferred.
