 Position Summary

Oversee all financial aspects of business and drive the school’s financial strategy and planning. Responsible for assessing the financial performance as well as possible risks to the school. A strategic thinker and effective leaders who can make sound decisions and achieve the school’s operational and strategic goals and initiatives in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinates the total operating budget and maintains a running three-year budget;

• Manages expenditures, acts as liaison with vendors and suppliers; monitors activities related to personnel fringe benefits; managing financial aid, third party scholarships budgets, balances, and delinquencies;
• Manages the operation of established purchasing policies and procedures; annual audit; coordinates vendor bidding and selection for major purchases and for capital projects; reviews and negotiates food service and janitorial service contracts; reviews and approves purchase orders to control spending in accordance with the budget and with changes in enrollment and cash flow and insure spending accountability;
• Assumes overall responsibility for the total ledger, including the general operation ledger, the plant and fixed asset ledger, and the restricted funds ledger;
• Prepares and reviews financial reports monthly, including a variance from budget for P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statements and financial forecast and projections;
• Prepares reporting of capital campaign pledges, collections, and cash forecast;
• Manages, monitors, and reconciles inter fund, bank and investment accounts for The Mount Carmel Education Foundation to accurately account for the Endowment Scholarships and restricted gifts.
• Properly records and safeguards fixed assets, and prepares and files any required tax reports and risk management; acts as liaison with school property and liability insurance carriers, and submits claims;
• Attends Finance Operation Committee meetings and Investment Committee meetings with the purpose of informing committee members about any significant items contained in the financial reports, as well as trends and future changes;
• Develops financial long-range plans and determines fiscal requirements for capital improvements and deferred maintenance projects with sound policies and strategies;
• Acts as school liaison with attorneys, real estate interests, local government liaisons and other external parties to facilitate management details following the acquisition of real estate properties;
• Bank liaison, prepare quarterly covenant compliance certificates, prepares, and updates the financial portion of the construction budget;
• Monitors cash position of bank accounts and investment accounts to ensure maximum amount invested.

Preferred:

• Experience working in a high school environment
• 5 or more years of experience in account managing
• Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raisers’ Edge NXT
