Electronic Records and Health Information currently has an outstanding opportunity for a PAYER RELEASE ANALYST.
Under the general supervision of the Release of Information Supervisor, the Payer Release Analyst is responsible for implementing the mission and goals of the Enterprise Records and Health Information, and incorporating information governance principles whenever appropriate. The Payer Release Analyst position is responsible for assisting with electronic records access and payer release initiatives and audits, including the legal medical record and designated record sets. The Payer Release Analyst is also responsible for communicating with UW Medicine Compliance, Patient Financial Services and others, about the status of release projects and process timelines. The Payer Release Analyst is responsible for ensuring accurate analysis of records being released, and prevents unauthorized disclosures. The Payer Release Analyst is responsible for developing and interpreting productivity metrics, and assists in meeting fiscal and clinical transformation goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists with monitoring and tracking requests for records, including medical records and prioritizes requests for records according to date and deadline. Ensures legal and regulatory deadlines are met to avoid penalties and risks to UW Medicine. Collaborates with UW Medicine Compliance and other stakeholders regarding on-time releases and tracking. Ensures records released are analyzed in accordance with the parameters of the requests and includes reviewing content and verifying completeness of the record before release. Reviews and verifies patient identity. Analyzes records to ensure minimum information necessary is provided to payers and other stakeholders. Assists the Release of Information Supervisor in developing and supporting access initiatives by communicating with payers and providers, and validating and responding to requests for access to UW Medicine’s electronic medical record; sponsoring and implementing payer and provider access initiatives, such as the U-Link program. Coordinates with User Access Administration and Strategic Outreach, ensuring timely handling and responses to requests for access to UW Medicine electronic medical records. Coordinates with Strategic Outreach and User Access Administration to provide access to authorized providers and payers and to meet initiatives for payer and provider access. Analyzes and responds to requests for sensitive information, such as subpoenas, court orders, risk management and investigatory requests, and is responsible for ensuring that legal requirements are met when complying with these requests. Issues official communications and responses on behalf of the department. Responds to these requests in a timely manner by compiling and submitting records, including medical records. Ensures compliance with legal requests by providing timely correspondence and responses to the issuing attorney or court; abstracting and compiling medical records in response to the requests and ensuring timely delivery and responses Provides accountability and accuracy in tracking handling of payer release requests. Tracks and reports productivity and other metrics related to release of records, commercial and government payer releases, audits, and other sensitive requests for information. Ensures accuracy of metrics and assists with the creation of standard reporting procedures. Collaborates with other ERHI stakeholders involved with release, identity, and content integrity. Collaborates with Clinical Coding team when necessary. Completes special projects as assigned, including the development of office documentation, job aids, and training materials. Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree and two years of records analysis experience, including experience with medical records. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted, year-for-year, for required education.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
