Overview: BlueRock Therapeutics is seeking a highly skilled and motivated attorney to join their team as Vice President, Legal Affairs and Intellectual Property (“VP, Legal”). Reporting to the company’s Chief Operating Officer, the VP, Legal will have primary responsibility for the general legal affairs within the company with a focus on intellectual property, business development, licensing and other strategic transactions, corporate law matters, and contracts. Company: BlueRock is a development-stage engineered cell therapy company leveraging its novel CELL+GENE™ platform to direct cellular differentiation and genetically engineer cells to create a new generation of cellular medicines that address large patient populations suffering from neurological, cardiovascular, and immunology diseases. BlueRock is headquartered in the heart of Kendall Square, Cambridge, with operations in NYC and Toronto. Founded in 2016 by Versant Ventures and capitalized with one of the largest-ever Series A financings in biotech history by Bayer AG and Versant, BlueRock was acquired in 2019 by Bayer AG and is operating as an independent, wholly-owned subsidiary of Bayer AG. Compensation: A competitive compensation package will be offered. Experience: The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of IP and corporate transactional experience, including law firm training and in-house counsel roles of increasing responsibility in a biopharmaceutical company setting. An advanced degee in molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, or a related discipline is required, and a PhD strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience contributing to business development activities such as in-licensing, out-licensing, mergers and acquisitions and partnering agreements, and will also be a strategic business-oriented team player and cultural leader for the company.
