BOULDER CITY, NV (Population: 16,207) Boulder City seeks candidates with a broad knowledge of federal, tribal, state and local laws and ordinances, rules and regulations, particularly with respect to municipal operations and the ability to interpret and ensure compliance with applicable federal, tribal, state and local policies, rules, laws and regulations specific to the State of Nevada and Boulder City. Located 30 minutes from Las Vegas airport, Boulder City is a delightful and unique desert town located in the southern tip of Nevada. Boulder City enjoys a distinctive heritage, with its roots beginning with the implementation of one of the most significant public works projects in history -- the Boulder Canyon Project, a monumental federal undertaking resulting in the construction of Hoover Dam. Boulder City residents enjoy and are vigilant in protecting a high quality of life and in preserving the excellent family-oriented and small-town nature of the community; gaming is prohibited by City charter, resulting in a community atmosphere unlike any municipality in Nevada. It truly is a community that has that hometown feel. The City of Boulder City is a Special Charter municipality that operates under the Council-Manager form of government. The City Council is comprised of five members elected at large on a non-partisan basis for four-year overlapping terms of office. The Mayor is elected directly by the residents for a four-year term. The City Council appoints the City Attorney, City Clerk, City Manager and Municipal Judge, as well as members of Advisory Boards and Commissions. - The City Council is seeking candidates who have experience working with municipal code as well as state and federal laws and regulations. Ideal candidates will have knowledge of labor relations, civil litigation, collective bargaining, land use and planning, public finance, public contracts and bidding, drafting of ordinances and resolutions, as well as municipal, state, federal and constitutional laws affecting municipal government. Experience in reviewing various contracts and memoranda to ensure the city’s legal interests are not compromised is a must.
- A Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to and in good standing with the Nevada Bar and must have been in actual practice in the State of Nevada for at least 3 years next preceding their appointment with the City. City Attorney required qualifications are outlined in the Boulder City Charter.
The starting salary range for the position is $120,000 - 145,000 DOQ. The City also offers an outstanding fringe benefit package including no cost health, dental and vision.
