Job Summary: Evaluate life science portfolio of cases for patentability and commercial potential. Interact with inventors and University partners to understand technology and market application. Participate in preparation of technology assessments and presentation to Intellectual Property Committee for decision on disposition of cases on agenda. Review and draft agreements. Develop and implement marketing plans for selected technologies, including the establishment of initial contacts with potential licensees and partners. Research industries and deal comparables for the valuation of related technologies and negotiate licenses. Monitor existing agreements for compliance. Interact/communicate with third parties regarding ongoing activities under active agreements. Essential Duties: Development and implementation of marketing plans for selected technologies, including identifying potential licensees and partners. Establish initial contacts and build and maintain relationships with potential licensees and partners. Analyze marketing results and adjust marketing strategy as necessary. Research deal comparables and assist with the preparation of license term sheets. Review and draft agreements. Monitor existing agreements for compliance. Communicate with licensees regarding active agreements. Evaluate assigned portfolio of cases for patentability and commercial potential. Supervise interns with respect to preparation of technical assessments. Make recommendations to IP Committee regarding protection. Supervise interns with respect to preparation of non-confidential summaries of technologies for marketing, establishing marketing strategy, and conducting marketing activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Master's degree in life sciences or business administration. One (1) year of experience in technology transfer and technology development or life science. Bachelor's degree. Three (3) years of technology transfer and technology development experience. Preferred Qualifications: PhD in life sciences. Two (2) years of relevant experience in a technology transfer/technology development capacity in academia or industry. One to two (1-2) years of experience in a research position in industry. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Some familiarity with market research and technology evaluation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and succinctly. Excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable working with multiple constituents, including representatives and attorneys. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with little supervision. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
