Position Summary
Summary: Investigates and resolves incidents and grievances; secures evidence; creates and documents investigative files; resolves disputes/claims with patient and/or family members; resolves facility risk related issues; facilitates corrective action; initiates reports to insurance carrier and regulatory agencies; assesses damages and injury for claims, answers interrogatories and request to produce for claims, prepares staff for depositions and trials, and manages and coordinates claims with defense counsel. Identifies opportunities for the improvement of quality, safety and cost, as well as patient, customer, and employee satisfaction.
Position Details
Standard Work Duties: Healthcare Risk Manager - Investigates all allegations of abuse including sexual abuse of patients and reports as required. - Investigates patient/visitor incidents and assigns harm scores. - Monitors and manages legal claims with defense counsel, sets reserves, interviews person(s) involved in claims, attends depositions and trials, answers interrogatories. - Develops and presents educational programs and learning modules for Orientation and Annual Risk Education. - Takes call evenings, nights, and holidays in rotation with other risk managers. - Develops and/or reviews policies/procedures, contracts. - Assesses damages and resolves claims with patients and/or family members, and/or their attorney within authority. - Conducts Serious Incident meetings and Root Cause Analyses. - Gathers and analyses data for tracking and trending, and facilitates corrective measures. * Stewardship - Demonstrates responsible use of LRH's resources including people, finances, equipment and facilities. - Knows and adheres to organizational and department policies and procedures. * People At The Heart Of All We Do - Fosters an inclusive and engaged environment through teamwork and collaboration. - Ensures patients and families have the best possible experiences across the continuum of care. - Communicates appropriately with patients, families, team members, and our community in a manner that treasures all people as uniquely created. * Guide Projects Using Acceptable Standards And ITIL Framework * Safety And Performance Improvement - Behaves in a mindful manner focused on self, patient, visitor, and team safety. - Demonstrates accountability and commitment to quality work. - Participates actively in process improvement and adoption of standard work.
