|Working within existing policy guidelines, establish and manage strategic alumni engagement plan that includes the ongoing development of a new virtual engagement platform, worldwide volunteer networks and activities, and an integrated communications cycle, with the goal of building affinity among alumni and with the school, and increasing philanthropic and activity-based support for the school. ?Develop annual strategic plan to build affinity and increase engagement with Berkeley Law among our growing international network of graduates. ?Co-Develop overall Class Campaign annual plan, including updating of the overall annual calendar and a focus on standardization across the unit. |
Identify, cultivate, solicit and/or steward donors. ?Create, implement, coordinate and analyze results of a program of reunion activities that include solicitations by print and email for 3000 alumni class members of reunion years; design, incorporate and utilize a suite of targeted materials including letterhead, fliers, remits, posters, webpage and social media postings to further class giving campaigns; research and identify top donors for leadership giving and volunteer giving and positions; with committee leaders, set dollar and giving percentage goals; collaborate with Major Gift Officers and Annual Giving Officers and others on reunion programming to share information with constituencies.
Provide analysis and information of complex results or activities, and makes recommendations to upper management for program changes or development of new programs as required. ?Track effectiveness of all aspects of alumni engagement and benchmark against best practices; reporting to volunteers and department colleagues; act as liaison to campus and external peers. ?The Director is a multi-tasker with strong project management skills; an experienced fundraising professional with superior writing and advanced communication ability, and excellent organizational and analytical skills; an excellent volunteer manager with an attitude of inclusion, an understanding of the value of teamwork, and a drive for success. Manage the experience with new Berkeley Law virtual alumni platform. In collaboration with the Associate Director of Annual Programs, participates in planning of fund development and annual solicitation programs. ?Work with philanthropy colleagues to develop coordinated gift solicitations strategies that target alumni and complement their engagement and volunteerism. ?Campaigns management including planning, implementing, analyzing, recording and reporting for a variety of ongoing and innovative and engaging campaigns designed to encourage connections among alumni, students, and colleagues with each other and the law school; coordinate messaging to engender special, increased and continued giving; engage constituencies in volunteer efforts; ensure adherence to school and campus policies and procedures; set and achieve objectives that support the goals of the department and the school. ?Plan and carry out other direct campaigns such as Partners in Leadership, the Graduating Class Gift Campaign, and a personal-visits campaign; research possibilities and devise new initiatives for fundraising through activities that include individual donors and groups of volunteers; draft, edit and disseminate informational and marketing materials. ?Ensure that predetermined fundraising goals are met.; participate in processes to set fundraising and engagement metrics.
Design, organize, and implement special events. ?Collaborate effectively with event staff to schedule and/or coordinate volunteer engagement opportunities at Berkeley Law events focused on the engagement of alumni and friends. ?Collaborate effectively with stewardship planning events and activities to ensure engagement and recognition of donors and volunteers. Coordinate and oversee the work of support staff and/or other professionals and volunteers. ?Direct and supervise the activities of support staff and ensure a commitment to developing a high performance culture. ?Develop, plan and implement a comprehensive volunteer management strategy encouraging active volunteerism and private support from the community of Berkeley Law volunteers and alumni. ?Work closely with staff and volunteers, and maintain frequent contact through various forms of communication and recognition. ?Identify, recruit, and train staff and volunteers, including preparing briefing documents for engagement opportunities for volunteers, faculty and staff. ?Volunteer management in recruiting, training and overseeing groups of volunteers; providing opportunities for engagement and participation in fundraising efforts; offering information and counsel to support success; monitoring progress and reporting on complex analyses and results. ?Ensure effective, accurate tracking of staff and volunteer participation in events and activities.?Thorough working knowledge and understanding of fundraising, donor relations and public relations concepts, principles, techniques, procedures and best practices and the ability to promote and convey services and opportunities. ?Thorough working knowledge of the campus and Berkeley Laws? vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure and/or the ability to quickly learn these important factors. ?Thorough knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, et cetera. ?Superior communication skills, including political acumen, to talk to others to convey information effectively; to communicated effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience; to employ active listening skills, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate without interrupting; and to persuade others to change their minds or behavior as appropriate. ?Superior interpersonal skills to establish, build, and maintain efficient and effective working relationships inside and outside the organization and employ alternative methods to inform and engage constituents using a broad variety of approaches. ?Excellent analytical, critical thinking and management skills, including skill in creative and effective decision-making and problem identification/avoidance/resolution. ?Superior ability to multi-task, prioritize, exercise good judgment, work independently as well as in collaboration, exhibit facility in project management, ability to staff events on some weekends and evenings. ?Strong computer skills and comfort level with databases, research, social media, web pages, spreadsheets and presentations and experience using customer relationships management (CRM) software ? Education/Training: ?Bachelor degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training ?J.D. preferred, or extensive experience in the legal profession. ?People management preferred.
